The Divinator offers advanced bandwidth optimization that spans a range of industries and technologies. Whether you are an ISP, carrier, or national service provider, you can increase you profitability and augment your competitive advantage by reducing the cost of international links. City carriers who lease inter-city lines from national providers will experience significant cost reductions. Large enterprises, campuses and utility companies who own or lease high-cost links can improve utilization and extract more value from available bandwidth. |

The Divinator™ is based on patent pending Divination™ technology, which is completely protocol neutral. It optimizes IP packet payload regardless of content, protocol or application.
|
|
A. |
No, while Divination™ technology is optimal for today, it is also ready for tomorrow. Because it works on the Network Layer, it is capable of handling every type of Transport Layer (TCP) protocol. Therefore, it supports both current and future broadband traffic.

A. |
The Divinator is based on patent pending Divination technology, which provides the following key advantages:
-
Comprehensive solution: Divination™ is unaware of the protocol
carrying data. It optimizes IP packet payload regardless of content,
protocol or application.
-
Legal: Divination™ partitions data into blocks and stores them on
the Divinator™ hard disk. Unlike a cache, it is impossible to extract
an original file from the Divinator's hard disk. The only way to
extract data from the Divinator™ is through a live session between two
Divinators. This is in contrast to existing cache solutions that serve
as a source of the transmitted file, thereby exposing the cache-owner
to copyright infringement liabilities.
-
Performance: Divination™ efficiently handles hundreds of thousands
of simultaneous TCP sessions while filtering the relevant sessions for
optimization. This is achieved through highly sophisticated packet
routing algorithms and optimal memory structures.
-
Simple implementation: Deployment of the Divinator™ is
straightforward and requires minimal configuration, as most of the job
is done automatically by Divination™ technology which automatically
and continuously learns, adjusting itself to the type of traffic on
the specific link.

Protocol
|
A. |
Divinator™ increases bandwidth utilization of any TCP based application. Therefore, all multimedia protocols are supported as well as all P2P protocols. Moreover, Divinator™ will automatically increase utilization of any future IP protocol, without a need to upgrade the system. |
Deployment
|
A. |
Typical deployment includes a pair of Divinators, one Divinator™ on each end of a high cost communication link. This provides a complete point-to-point solution. However, the Divinator™ can be deployed in a variety of different configurations to support full-duplex or half-duplex bandwidth optimization. The Divinator™ can function as a gateway to manage all network traffic. It can also be deployed next to an existing content Switch/Redirector, and configured to manage only selected types of traffic, directed to it according to the ISP's redirector configuration. Furthermore, it can also be deployed as a bridge on each side of a high-cost link. Divination™ can also be deployed to support mesh network bandwidth optimization, resulting in significant traffic reduction. |
|
A. |
No. The Divinator™ does not require any topology changes. Deployment of the Divinator™ is straightforward and requires minimal configuration, as most of the job is performed automatically by Divination™ technology, which automatically and continuously learns and adjusts itself to the type of traffic on the specific link.
|
|
A. |
Yes. The Divinator™ is a robust and safe system with built-in mechanisms to provide automatic fail-over, such as bypass capabilities. When a malfunction occurs, the Divinator™ informs the switch it is no longer available. At all times and in any case, all traffic will be forwarded without delay.
|
Caching
|
A. |
Yes. Because Divination™ is unaware of the protocol carrying data, it optimizes IP packet payload regardless of content, protocol or application, including Web content!
|
|
A. |
Divination™ is typically deployed in a twin layout, one Divinator™ on each end of a high cost communication link. The Divinator™ on one side receives streams of incoming communication from the local network and reduces its volume through unique packet caching. The reduced load is then transferred over the high-cost, high-speed link. On the other side, a second Divinator™ receives the reduced communication volume and then reconstructs the original streams for transmission over inexpensive local networks. The Divinators can be located on the two ends of a physical communication link or they can be installed on two sides of an Internet route. |
|
A. |
The Divinator™ comes in three different models to address different price and performance needs.
• Divinator™ 500, with 500 GB of storage
• Divinator™ 900, with 900 GB of storage
• Divinator™ 1800, with 1800 GB of storage

Traffic Redirection
|
A. |
The Divinator™ system is compatible with all leading hardware. This enables full and seamless integration, reliable redirection, continuous monitoring, and load balancing of the system.
|
Performance
|
A. |
The Divinator™ is a modular and scalable device. Each Divinator™ can handle a throughput of several hundreds of Mbps. However, the solution can support any size of link capacity since several Divinator systems can be deployed in parallel.

|
A. |
Using Divinator™ allows the network to function more efficiently. Once employed, lines to the outside world are no longer congested. Furthermore, the network is no longer congested by P2P traffic. This has been a growing problem for ISPs and users, with asynchronous upstream traffic barely capable of keeping up with demand (it was not designed for massive uploads which are standard in the P2P world). The result is far better performance for end users, which enables ISPs to provide additional value-added services to customers such as voice over IP and virus protection, far more efficiently and with improved performance. Since most P2P downloads are performed within close proximity to a Divinator™ without needing to access data from peers located halfway across the globe, P2P usage dramatically improves, together with the end user experience. This gives the ISP a competitive advantage.
|
|
A. |
The Divinator™ can handle several million concurrent sessions. By not needing to conduct deep packet inspection, valuable CPU and memory resources are conserved. This results in the ability to handle much greater traffic in both volume and number of sessions as compared to solutions that are protocol aware.
|
Management
|
A. |
The Divinator™ comes with a web management interface that enables you to control and monitor Divinators both locally and remotely. In addition to the web interface, you can control and use the Divinator through SNMP, Telnet and SSH. |

Divination™ partitions data into blocks and stores them on the Divinator™ hard disk. The Divinator is unaware of the content or application it processes. Unlike a cache, it is impossible to extract an original file from the Divinator's hard disk. The only way to extract data from the Divinator™ is through a live session with the original source of the content between two Divinators. This is different from Cache solutions that serve as the source of the transmitted file, thereby exposing the cache-owner to copyright infringement liabilities. Arguably, the most important attribute of Divination™, this makes it a valuable tool for communication service providers that want to avoid the potential liabilities of lawsuits, a phenomenon quickly becoming all too common. |
